Bruno Schulz, Polish writer, fine artist, literary critic, and art teacher, born on July 12, 1892, in Drohobych, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in Ukraine). He is best known for his two collections of short stories, “The Street of Crocodiles” and “Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass,” which have gained international acclaim for their vivid and surreal style.
