Conversational Hebrew for Beginners

Have you ever wanted to greet friends, order food, or sing simple songs in Yiddish?
In this in-person 4-session series, Conversational Yiddish for Beginners will give you a strong start in speaking and understanding Yiddish through English transliteration. You’ll learn everyday greetings, essential phrases, and basic conversation skills, as well as a few easy Yiddish songs to bring the language to life. This friendly, interactive course is perfect for anyone new to Yiddish and eager to explore Jewish language and culture.

When: Mondays, 7:00 p.m. PT (9:00 p.m. CT, 10:00 p.m. ET)
Dates: April 21 – May 12 (4 weeks)

Cost:

  • Early Bird: $125 for 4 sessions (available until Wednesday, April 9)

  • Regular Admission: $145 for 4 classes

Instructor: Jana Galek Lew

Jana Galek Lew is an experienced Hebrew and Yiddish instructor with over 15 years of teaching students of all ages. She holds a diploma in teaching Hebrew as a second language from Universidad Hebraica and an MA in Education and Jewish Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Jana currently teaches Jewish Studies and Hebrew at a Jewish elementary school in Mexico City, where she combines cultural insights with an engaging, accessible teaching style.
