Data Management Internship

The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its project called Yiddishland California, based in San Diego, California, are looking for a Data Management Intern. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events. To learn more about our organization, please visit

We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us with data management-related tasks. The intern will be responsible for organizing and maintaining digital records and media, developing structured file systems and tracking tools, performing data cleaning and validation, and supporting reporting and data analysis initiatives. No knowledge of the Yiddish language is required. Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes, as well as access to the YAAANA archives.
Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit. This internship is remote.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Organize and maintain digital records in Google Drive, including folder structure, naming conventions, and file cleanup.
- Manage digital media assets (photos, videos, recordings), including uploading, verification, and backups.
- Maintain tracking systems (spreadsheets/forms) for workflows, data, and project status.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and audits to ensure data quality.
- Prepare datasets, summaries, and inputs to support reporting and analysis.
- Assist with document management and retrieval across platforms.
Work Experience & Skills
- Completion of relevant college-level coursework, such as progress towards a degree in marketing, finance, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient with file management and cloud storage systems, with a general understanding of Google Workspace and Salesforce.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision in a remote environment.
- Strong initiative and time management.
- Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus.
Learning Outcomes
- Interns will gain practical experience in data management and organization within a professional setting.
- Interns will develop skills in creating and maintaining organizational processes and digital asset management systems.
- Interns will gain nonprofit experience and a deeper understanding of Jewish culture.
Estimated Duration
Full-time: preferably 8, minimum 6 week engagement with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week.
Part-time: preferably 16, minimum 12 week engagement with a minimum commitment of 21 hours per week.
OPT: 21 hours per week, 270 hours total.
Longer internships with a less demanding time commitment are available upon request.
If an intern wishes to receive academic credit, it is their responsibility to confirm eligibility and any approval requirements with their academic institution prior to starting the internship.
