Dear Friends of YAAANA and Yiddishland California,
We are very busy this summer at virtual Yiddishland! This Friday at 12.30 p.m. PT, on Zoom, we will have our conversational Yiddish for Beginners class—and yes! you can join if you missed previous sessions.
Additionally, we are delighted to announce a new Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) Zoom course for the summer. The course is based on Sephardic tales that students will read in the Latin alphabet. We will also practice speaking skills and provide optional short writing tasks. Elements of the Hebrew Rashi script will be included as well. This course is appropriate for people with basic knowledge of Ladino or Spanish. The course is scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 16th, and early bird pricing is available until Tuesday, July 7th. The schedule is somewhat flexible if needed.

Conversational Hebrew for Beginners with Orli Moses

Conversational Yiddish for Beginners with Avi
Come enjoy some fun conversation in Yiddish, practicing asking and answering questions and playing games. This is a no-pressure, easygoing class. The class is “drop-in” style, so feel free to attend all six sessions or as many as you wish. Everything will be presented in Yiddish with transliteration, as well as in English. There is no homework, but optional review materials will be sent out after each class. Sessions will be recorded upon request.
Beginners: Course on Reading and Speaking Judeo-Spanish (Ladino)
This new Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) course is based on Sephardic tales. Students will have the opportunity to read them in the Latin alphabet.
