The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its physical location called Yiddishland California, both based in San Diego, California, are looking for a Human Resources intern. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events. We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us with HR tasks. No knowledge of Yiddish language is required. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes as well as to the YAAANA archives. Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit. We offer in-person and remote internships.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

As a Human Resources Intern with YAAANA, you will gain hands-on experience in key HR processes and support our organization’s growth. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who is excited to learn about talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee engagement. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Interview Process Management: Conduct initial screenings and assist in interviewing potential candidates, evaluating qualifications and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Onboarding Support: Facilitate the onboarding process for selected candidates, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles. This includes handling onboarding emails and guiding candidates through initial stages.
  • Communication & Outreach: Respond to applications, maintain communication with interested candidates, and manage email correspondence.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Arrange and confirm interview schedules, set up calendar invites, and manage appointments. Ensure that all necessary details are communicated with candidates.
  • Reporting & Insights: Provide regular insights and updates to the CEO on candidate strengths, skill sets, and suitability for various roles, assisting in strategic decision-making.
  • Background & Qualification Review: Conduct thorough assessments of candidates’ backgrounds, aligning their experience and skills with role requirements.
  • Confirmation & Final Instructions: Once candidates are selected, manage confirmation communication and provide further instructions and inquiry handling.
