Composition in Dark Blue

Description

Ardon’s aquatint print is a swirling combination of abstract images and simplified landscape colors from the mountains to the clouds in the sky. The dark clouded skies of blue balance themselves with the spotty and abstract landscape of what Ardon implies to be a city, in this case, Jerusalem. From this view, you can almost see a shadow cast by the hills as a dark background brightens up the abstract shapes of the city and the dark and light blue sky above. Also, in the sky, you can see light fluffs of white alongside specks of color across the image, possibly stars. The buildings in the center have various colors and shading, and some have small, scribbled writing. This print is a beautiful, visually abstract image of Jerusalem filled with different colors and a vibrant blended tone.
